The Faculty is ranked in the world’s top 100 in three subjects – Earth and Marine Sciences, Geography, and Psychology.

All three have been in the top 100 for several years, demonstrating a consistent record of excellence.

“Wellington Faculty of Science is home to many staff who are world leaders in their fields of research,” says Acting Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dave Harper.

“Our lecturers are engaged in ground-breaking work in a broad range of areas. Our students benefit greatly from their expertise, and from the opportunity to study in a globally-recognised hub of discussion, debate and discovery.”

The QS World University Rankings by Subject are highly competitive, with 13,138 individual university programmes assessed and ranked across a range of subjects.

Overall, the University ranked in the top 100 of the world’s 18,000 universities for 11 subjects.

“Our global standing remains strong thanks to the quality of our research and teaching and the reputation of our academics,” says Vice-Chancellor Professor Grant Guilford.

“These results are further evidence of Wellington’s standing as an internationally respected and globally ranked capital city university.”
