N N Danilow Memorial Prize (Spanish)
$700 (subject to available funds)
No application required
Eligible students must be enrolled in Spanish language and literature courses at an undergraduate level.
This prize and the N N Danilow Memorial Scholarship arise from a fund given by Mrs A Danilow in 1983 to commemorate her husband Dr N N Danilow (1896-1981), who founded Russian studies in New Zealand when he introduced a course in Russian at Victoria University College in 1943. It is administered via the Victoria University Foundation.
The prize will be awarded to the student who has done the best work in Spanish language and literature at undergraduate level during the year, and is worthy of the award.
The Prize is awarded on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Languages and Cultures.
The value of the prize in any year is determined after consideration of the income from the fund. The balance of income not expended shall be added to the fund.
Recipients will be asked to write a letter of thanks, which will be forwarded appropriately.
