Eligibility

This prize was established in 2011 and is offered to the most innovative class 5 project (Years 11-13) in the annual NIWA Wellington Regional Science and Technology Fair and must be taken the year following completion of secondary school.

Information

  1. One prize will be awarded annually to the most innovative project.
  2. Preference will be given to a Year 13 project; however, should a suitable Year 13 project not be available the prize may be allocated to either a Year 12 or 11 project.
  3. The prize will be awarded only once to any winner, irrespective of how many times an individual participates in the fair.
  4. In the event a prize is awarded to a project completed by two or more people, the value of the prize will be split between the participants.
  5. No award shall be made in any year in which the selection panel considers there is no candidate of sufficient merit.
  6. The prize will be provided as a payment of up to $5,000 towards first-year living costs once enrolment at Victoria University of Wellington is confirmed.
  7. Should the recipient also have been awarded a Victoria University Excellence or Achiever Scholarship, they may apply for the difference in fees to be covered by this award.
