The prize is awarded to a BSc (Hons), MSc, or PhD student in Geology who has shown a talent for original research involving field-work and laboratory investigation, as well as an ability to inspire enthusiasm and a sense of team-spirit in their fellow students.

Information

Staff and former students in the Geology Programme have established this prize via the Victoria University Foundation to acknowledge the work and contribution of John Gamble, Associate Professor of Geology, at Victoria University of Wellington from 1980 to 2002.

One prize shall be awarded annually to a BSc (Hons), MSc, or PhD student in Geology who has shown a talent for original research involving field-work and laboratory investigation, as well as an ability to inspire enthusiasm and a sense of team-spirit in their fellow students.

The prize will be awarded on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Geography, Environment and Earth Sciences on the advice of the relevant course coordinators. If no suitable student is nominated, no prize will be awarded.

Recipients will be asked to write a letter of thanks, which will be forwarded appropriately.
