Information

The endowed fund supporting this prize was established by a private donor, via the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation in 2021, to recognise an exceptional student of classical voice who has performed with excellence in the opera production at Te Kōkī—New Zealand School of Music, Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. Prize funds are to assist the student with fees or for projects undertaken during their studies e.g. masterclasses.

The prize recognises and rewards a postgraduate student who demonstrates excellence in performance in either the biennial NZSM opera production or opera scenes production, with career potential in the domain of opera.

Where no suitable recipient is identified in a given year, the available funds can, at the discretion of the decision-makers be rolled over to the next academic year.

Recipient will be selected by the Director of NZSM, senior staff at the school, and the NZSM scholarships committee based on performance observed during the rehearsal and performance period of annual opera or opera scenes productions. The recipient will be expected to demonstrate engagement and contribute
to the community and environment of the Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music.

The recipient will be asked to write a letter of appreciation, which will be forwarded appropriately.
