These prizes, established to mark the centenary of the Todd family in New Zealand and in memory of Sir Desmond Todd, are provided annually by members of the Todd family. There are two prizes:
1. for the best student completing a thesis in Political Science and International Relations for the degree of MA.
2. for the best student completing a thesis in Political Science and International Relations for the degree of PhD.

Information

These prizes, established to mark the centenary of the Todd family in New Zealand and in memory of Sir Desmond Todd, are provided annually by members of the Todd family.

1. The prizes shall be known as the Sir Desmond Todd Memorial Prizes.

2. Two prizes may be awarded annually:
(a) one to the student judged to be most worthy of the award who, in the year of the award, has completed a thesis in Political Science or International Relations for the degree of PhD;
(b) one to the student judged to be the most worthy of the award who, in the year of the award, has completed a thesis in Political Science or International Relations for the degree of MA.

3. No student may hold the award more than once.

4. No student who is a direct descendant of the late Sir Desmond and Lady Todd or the spouse of a direct descendant is eligible to be awarded the prize.

5. The prize shall be awarded on the recommendation of the Head of the School of History, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations in consultation with the academic staff and Head of Programme in Political Science and International Relations.

6. The value of each prize shall be three thousand dollars or such sum as the Todd family shall decide.

7. The names of the students awarded these prizes shall be inscribed on the Honours Board at the premises of the School of Political Science and International Relations.
