Information

This prize arises from gifts made by Mrs Winifred Macdonald to commemorate her brother, Dr Gerard Maskell, who was the first lecturer in Zoology, and who died in London while on sabbatical leave in 1932 at the age of 32 years.

The prize is awarded to the best final year BSc student, who has completed their 300-level study in the School of Biological Sciences, and who enrols for a postgraduate study within the areas covered by the Ecology and Biodiversity teaching and research group.

The value of the prize is determined after consideration of the income from the fund. If in any year the prize is not awarded an additional prize may be awarded in a subsequent year, or the prize money may be added to the capital fund.

Recipients will be asked to write a letter of thanks, which will be forwarded appropriately.
