The Khanna Prize in Management Accounting

Value:

The value of the Prize shall be approximately $150, or as determined by the Academic Board after consideration of the income from the fund. If in any year for whatever reason the Prize is not awarded, the income for that year shall be added to the fund. If for whatever reason the Prize has not been awarded over a five year period, the Faculty of Commerce and Administration shall make a recommendation to the Academic Board regarding the conditions for the award of the Prize in subsequent years.

Eligibility

The Prize arises from a fund donated in 1991. The Prize shall be awarded annually by the Academic Board, on the recommendation of the Head of School, Accounting and Commercial Law, to the best student attending the Current Issues in Management Accounting course (ACCY 402). If, in any year, this course is not offered, the Prize shall be awarded to the best student in any 400- or 500-level Management Accounting course, or any other course having Management Accounting as a component, within the Faculty of Commerce and Administration.

Purpose of award

To recognise and reward the highest achieving student on ACCY 402.

Selection criteria

This prize arises from a fund donated in 1991 by Dr Bhagwan Khanna, a former Senior Lecturer in the School of Accounting and Commercial Law (SACL) at Victoria. It is administered by the Victoria University Foundation.

1. The recipient will be selected based on academic achievement.

2. Eligible students should be nominated by the Head of the Faculty of Commerce and Accounting

3. The recipient must be attending ACCY 402, or any 400 or 500 level Management Accounting course, or any other course having Management Accounting as a component.

How and when do students learn of the decision?

The student will be contacted by the Scholarships Office to advise them that they have been awarded the prize.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?

There are no conditions attached to accepting this award.

Additional information

The recipient will be asked to write a letter of appreciation which will then be forwarded to the donor.
