No application required
This prize is awarded to the best student in class of Public Law.
This prize arises from a fund donated in 1982 by the Petone Branch of the New Zealand Labour Party in memory of Chris Highfield, a Victoria law student who had cystic fibrosis from birth and who died shortly after his graduation with an LLB from Victoria University of Wellington.
The prize is awarded on the recommendation of the Dean of the Faculty of Law to the student who has done the best year's work in the class of Public Law in the year of the award and who is worthy of the award.
The value of the prize shall be determined after consideration of the income from the fund.
The recipient is encouraged to spend part of the prize money on a book, or books.
The recipient will be asked to write a letter of appreciation which will be forwarded appropriately.
