This prize, established in 2002 by the Rt Hon. Jonathan Hunt, is provided annually by the Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives to encourage excellence among students taking part in the parliamentary internship Honours course offered by the Political Science and International Relations programme.

This prize, established in 2002 by the Rt Hon. Jonathan Hunt, is provided annually by the Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives to encourage excellence among students taking part in the parliamentary internship Honours course offered by the Political Science and International Relations programme.

1. The prize shall be known as the Speaker's Prize.

2. The prize shall be awarded annually to the student enrolled in the School's parliamentary internship honours course who is judged to be most worthy of the award.

3. The prize shall be awarded on the recommendation of the Head of the School of History, Philosophy, Political Science and International Relations in consultation with the staff member responsible for the School's parliamentary internship honours course.

4. The name of the student awarded this prize shall be inscribed on the Honours Board at the premises of the Political Science and International Relations programme.

5. Recipients will be asked to write a letter of appreciation which will be forwarded appropriately.
