Information

This memorial award was established via the Victoria University Foundation to honour the memory of Felicity Giselle Coleman-Brown (1954-1988) who was a graduate of the University of Michigan and Juris Doctor (1983), some time student of Comparative Law at the University of Vienna, and an attorney-at-law.

The award recognises the achievement of outstanding female students in the field of jurisprudence, especially Feminist jurisprudence.

It is awarded annually at the discretion of the Dean of Law for the best overall performance by a female LLB (including LLB Honours) student from elective courses offered by the Faculty in a particular year within the field of legal theory (for example, but not limited to, Jurisprudence or Feminist Legal Theory), preference being given (where applicable) to a student who wishes to pursue postgraduate study either in New Zealand or overseas.

The value of the award in any year is determined by the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation after consideration of the income from the fund.

The recipient will be asked to write a letter of appreciation which will be forwarded appropriately.
