English-Speaking Union Awards for Teachers of English

Information

The prize is sponsored by The English-Speaking Union of the Commonwealth (Wellington Branch). The award supports the Union's aim of "Promoting international understanding through the English-speaking language".

One award is offered to a graduate of the School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies who, in the judgment of the Head of School, showed the greatest promise as an effective and a committed teacher of English to speakers of other languages. Preference for may be given to students from the South Pacific.

Recipients are encouraged to purchase materials relevant to the teaching of English to speakers of other languages.

Recipients will be asked to write a letter of appreciation which will be forwarded appropriately.

Eligibility

Eligible students must be graduates of the School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies, who are pursuing a career in teaching English to speakers of other languages, either in New Zealand or overseas.
