Scholarship opportunity

This Scholarhip is open to students in the final year of their BA and Honours students to apply. The scholarship is for students enrolling in Honours or Masters in 2020. The Joyce (Liew Chui Ha) Chan essay award will be made for the best essay on a topic on Asian women.

Joyce Chan Award

The essay needs to be completed by either a student in the final year of their BA degree majoring in Criminology, Cultural Anthropology, Religious Studies, or Sociology or an Honours student in Criminology, Cultural Anthropology, Religious Studies, or Sociology.

Who can submit an essay?

Any student who is completing their BA in 2019 and plans to enrol in Honours in any of the programmes (Criminology, Cultural Anthropology, Religious Studies, or Sociology) in the School of Social and Cultural Studies in 2020

or

Any Honours student who is completing a BA(Hons) in Criminology, Cultural Anthropology, Religious Studies, or Sociology in 2019 and who intends enrolling in a MA or PhD thesis in one of these subjects in 2020.

Submissions

The essay should be 3,000 to 5,000 words and may be an essay written for a course or written specially to submit for this award.

What is the amount of the award?

A payment of $3000 will be made after the first two weeks of the academic year has passed.
