Kia ora and welcome! We are a team of researchers and clinicians who have a shared interest in understanding the wellbeing of rangatahi and young adults in Aotearoa New Zealand, and how issues of social justice and equity contribute to this.

Our research lab began as the Youth Wellbeing Study, our research with young people primarily being in secondary schools, where we gathered information about how young people were doing, what their needs were, and what resources would be most helpful to them and their communities. The research that emerged from this was primarily focused on non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI). Our lab has since evolved to incorporate a wider research interest in regards to wellbeing and social justice issues. This includes research with populations such as LGBTQIA+, rangatahi Maori, and migrant and refugee youth, as well as political and social psychology – see our team page for a more in-depth description of the various projects underway in our lab.

Our website gives information regarding our research projects, our research findings and publications, and has copies of our various presentations to the community, academic conferences, and copies of our resources.
