As the Clinical Practice Manager, Dougal is responsible for the operation of the Clinical Psychology Centre. He coordinates and supports students in their clinical placements and internships, as well as providing clinical supervision for postgraduate clinical psychology students working in the Victoria Psychology Clinic.
Dougal is a Registered Psychologist in the Clinical Psychologist Scope of Practice with the New Zealand Psychologists Board.
Dougal has been practising as a Clinical Psychologist for over 15 years. He has worked extensively with children, adolescents, and families/whanau. Dougal also has worked in management roles in the Mental Health & Addictions sector.
His areas of clinical interest and expertise include Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Dougal is interested in making psychology accessible to the general public. He has provided consultation and advice to print media, radio, and TV. He occasionally works with umbrella.org.nz/ providing training in resiliency in the corporate sector.
