Colloquium Series with Lisa Feldman Barrett

EA 120, Level 1, Easterfield Building

Lisa Feldman Barrett of Northeastern University will speak on:

The power of predictions: An emerging paradigm for psychological research

Date: Thursday 5 March 2020
Time: 11 am
Venue: EA120 1st Floor, Easterfield Building

Abstract:

The last two decades of neuroscience research has produced a growing number of studies suggesting that disparate psychological phenomena are all produced by domain-general predictive processes in the brain. When considered together, these studies form a coherent, neurobiologically-inspired research program for guiding psychological research about the mind and behavior. In this talk, we will consider several key assumptions and hypotheses that define this predictive processing approach and use questions about the nature of emotion to illustrate its potential for innovating psychological theory and research.
