Exhibition Dates: 16 January – 5 February
Closing Celebration: Friday 5 February 5.30pm
Artist Performance: Friday 5 February 6pm

Marcus Jackson is an artist, composer and writer based in Pōneke. He creates work that interrogates the links between physical gesture and sound production, often with uncanny results. In Slime Inheritance he installs a system of valves and pipes into the gallery. At various points in the system, air escapes to activate sound objects, creating a sonified installation.

Marcus will be performing in the gallery with some special guests on Friday 5 February at 6pm.

Marcus is currently Toi Pōneke's Sound Artist in Residence. This is their 5th annual Sound Art Residency. They will be calling for submissions for the 2021 Sound Artist in Residence in August. With support from Toi Pōneke and Te Kōkī NZSM, the successful candidate will undertake a 12-week residency, which culminates in an exhibition at Toi Pōneke Gallery, and/ or a series of public programmes.
