Call for entries - 2021 Lilburn Trust NZSM Composers Competition
Submissions for 2021 now open
We invite submissions of works of no more than 12 minutes’ duration for consideration for the Lilburn Trust NZSM Composers Competition 2021. Works in any genre or format, and we particularly welcome submission of jazz compositions, electroacoustic compositions, sound installations, or semi-improvised works. Judging will take into account a broad notion of ‘composition’, including music technology developments, with a special prize for the best use of music technology, as well as a prize for best performance.
Entrants must be, or have been, enrolled in the NZSM in 2021 (under any major). Submitted works must have been completed after 1 August 2020. Entrants must be able to organise their own performance for the final, if chosen—unperformed works are ineligible.
Eligible students can works online at www.victoria.ac.nz/nzsm/submissions by no later than Tuesday 31 August 2021 — students will be notified of the outcome no later than 2 September. The Composers Competition Finals Concert will take place on 25 September 2021.
