The Morton Trio wins Pettman ROSL scholarship

Formed from graduates of the New Zealand School of Music and the University of Waikato, Melbourne based The Morton Trio has won the 2018 Pettman/ROSL Arts Scholarship.

The Morton Trio is made up of Arna Morton (violin, MMA graduate from NZSM), Alex Morton (horn, BMus graduate from NZSM), and Liam Wooding (piano, University of Waikato).

The group was selected from 13 different ensembles nominated by the Universities of Auckland, Waikato and the New Zealand School of Music after auditions held in October 2018.

The Scholarship includes return flights for the group from New Zealand to London, accommodation and hospitality for several weeks in the UK, a cash award of £500 sterling each, and various concerts and activities as part of their visit to the UK.

The adjudicating panel was Geoff Parkin, Director of Arts ROSL, Professor Peter Walls ONZM CEO, Chamber Music New Zealand, Gamal Khamis, pianist and Emily Sun, violinist.
