Dr Yann-Pierre Montelle is a rock art researcher who researches and teaches performance studies, anthropology, and archaeology.

Having recently published a book—Paleoperformance: The Emergence of Theatricality as Social Practice—which wraps the interpretative approaches from these three disciplines into an analysis of the performative traditions of prehistory, he in recent times has turned to Indian traditions of performance from a similar vantage point.
