Dr Nikki Hessell

Dr Nikki Hessell is deputy head of the School of English, Film, Theatre, Media Studies, and Art History at Victoria University of Wellington.

Nikki Hessell is a senior lecturer in English at Victoria University of Wellington. She is interested in the history of the book and print culture in India in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

At present, she is researching the reception and transmission of British Romantic literature in Kerala, particularly in translation into Indian languages, in the late nineteenth century and the early decades of the twentieth century. This research is part of a broader project on the reception of British Romantic literature in Indigenous languages throughout the British World.
