Three Te Herenga Waka University Press books shortlisted for the 2022 Ockham New Zealand Book Awards

Three books published by Te Herenga Waka University Press have made the shortlist for the 2022 Ockham New Zealand Book Awards.

Greta and Valdin, the popular and acclaimed debut novel by Rebecca K Reilly, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Jann Medlicott Acorn Prize for Fiction, worth $60,000.

Rangikura by Tayi Tibble has been shortlisted for the Mary and Peter Biggs Poetry Award. This is the second time Tibble has been shortlisted for this award. Her book Poūkahangatus won the Jessie Mackay Best First Book Award at the 2019 Ockham New Zealand Book Awards.

The Alarmist: Fifty Years Measuring Climate Change by climate scientist Dave Lowe has been shortlisted for the General Non-Fiction Award. The Alarmist, about a life at the forefront of climate change, is Lowe’s first book.

Te Herenga Waka University Press publisher Fergus Barrowman says that he is delighted for the authors and the THW team for this recognition of their excellent work.

The winners will be announced in May.
