Celebrating Victoria University of Wellington's New Year Honours

A number of Victoria University of Wellington alumni, staff members, and friends were recognised in the 2019 New Year Honours.

Alumna, former Mayor of Wellington, and 2011 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient Kerry Prendergast was made a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (NZOM) for services to governance and the community.

Adjunct research fellow at the University's Institute of Criminology Dr Kim Workman was made a Knight Companion of the NZOM for services to prisoner welfare and the justice sector.
