About
Kirsten McDougall is a fiction writer. Her most recent book is the novel She’s a Killer (2021), set in NZ a few years from now. She is also the author The Invisible Rider, a series of interconnected short stories and Tess, is a novella about a young woman with the power to see people's memories. She has widely published short fiction in anthologies, most recently in Monsters in the Garden: an anthology of Aotearoa New Zealand science fiction and fantasy (Te Herenga Waka University Press, 2020).
Kirsten's work has been awarded the Creative NZ Louis Johnson New Writers Bursary, a Michael King Writers Residency, has been longlisted for the Ockham NZ Book Awards and shortlisted for the Ngaio Marsh Awards. She won the Sunday Star Times Short Story Competition in 2021. Kirsten completed her MA in Creative Writing at the IIML in 2004.
