Book launch: Victory Park by Rachel Kerr

Good Books, 2/16 Jessie St, Te Aro, Wellington (next to Prefab)

Makaro Press invites you to the launch of Rachel Kerr's highly-praised debut novel.

'A rich, funny, compassionate exploration of care and carelessness — this is a wonderful book — like its heroine, astute as hell and full of heart.'  Emily Perkins

Kara lives in Victory Park council flats with her young son, just making a living by minding other people's kids... Life is threadbare and unpromising until the mysterious Bridget moves in to the Park, bringing with her glamour and wild dreams and an unexpected friendship. Drawn in, Kara forgets for a moment who she's there to protect.

Victory Park is '...a heady combination [of] beauty and pace... a novel that feels important.' Catherine Woulfe, The Spinoff (Read the full review).

Rachel Kerr is a graduate of Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington's Master of Arts in Creative Writing at the International Institute of Modern Letters. Victory Park will be launched by IIML Senior Lecturer Emily Perkins, in the first of many events to be held at Wellington's brand new Good Books.
