LLC open again in Alert Level 2
Haere mai anō ki Te Pūtahi Reo. The Language Learning Centre is now open again for students and staff. We would like to outline a few of the changes to our facilities and services available in Alert Level 2.
The Language Learning Centre (LLC) re-opened on Monday, 18 May 2020.
We would like to remind everyone to ensure physical distancing of one metre, and ideally two metres, when visiting the LLC. If you think you may be ill, please stay at home and ring one of the telephone numbers listed here.
Hours of operation
The Language Learning Centre will be open in the mornings from 10 am to 12 pm, and in the afternoons from 1 pm to 4 pm Monday to Friday.
We ask that all students and staff follow the University-wide contact tracing method using Microsoft PowerApps. We ask that you download this app before you visit the LLC, or anywhere else on campus.
Additionally, you also need to swipe your student/staff card on entry and exit. This could be used for contact tracing if necessary.
This is open, with reduced seating capacity to enable physical distancing. Users are welcome to borrow resources.
We require contactless transactions and so users are required to hold up barcodes for our scanner and check for accompanying CDs, DVDs etc. as requested. We apologise in advance and ask our users to allow for a little more time to enable this.
Returned items will be quarantined for a period of three days before they are placed back in the Self-access Library. Thus users will only be able to borrow a resource if they can find it on the shelf. The availability of all items can be checked using the Library catalogue.
Teaching labs VZ003 and VZ011
These will remain closed for the moment.
This is open, with reduced capacity to enable physical distancing. Printing and photocopying facilities are fully functional.
Group study rooms
These are open, with reduced capacity (typically 2 to 3) to enable physical distancing. Wireless keyboards and mice are not available at the moment.
Access to LLC
We encourage access through the automatic doors to the Hugh Mackenzie building from the carpark behind the von Zedlitz building (this same entrance to the LLC can also be accessed from elsewhere in the Hugh Mackenzie building). It is necessary to swipe your staff/student card. Though the lift and stairwells in von Zedlitz are operational, we encourage contactless entry and exit from the Hugh Mackenzie building if possible.
Full details of the University's Covid-19 response are available online.
We are working out how to best to offer the Language Learning Centre's facilities and services on an ongoing basis, and so we appreciate your continued patience and support.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.
