Open Access 101 course

Open Access 101 course (OA101) is an introductory level course targeted at professional staff wanting to know more about the basics of Open Access. It is designed to fit easily with other work commitment over four online modules over four weeks, with each module taking approximately 1-2 hours and done in your own time.

After three successful iterations with more than 450 participants, the University is updating the course's programme based on feedback and the experience of our course tutors and participants. The course has been really well received with a survey of participants finding those who had completed the course were more confident:

  • explaining basic open access terminology and concepts
  • discussing open repositories
  • with the Open Access policies at their institution
  • discussing the role of Creative Commons licenses
  • communicating and advocating for Open Access

There will also be a weekly live Q & A session, as well as a Slack channel discussion forum with course tutors. If any Open Access advocates would like to share their experiences with OA101 course participants as a guest speaker in the weekly Q&A, please follow the link.
