Master of Linguistics—approved courses in other subjects

Find out which related courses from outside the programme are approved for substitution in the Master of Linguistics.

If you’re studying a Master of Linguistics (MLing), you can substitute up to 30 points from the courses listed on this page. These courses complement the core courses offered on the MLing programme.

Entry to these courses is subject to approval by the course coordinator or programme director of each course. They will check that you have the relevant background in the subject.

• ANTH 489: Research Project
• LALS 542: Interaction and Identity in Language Learning
• PHIL 442: Language and Mind

All of these courses can be started and finished in Trimester 1, with two exceptions:

• PHIL 442 is offered in Trimester 2.
• ANTH 489 takes two trimesters to complete.
