Derek Gill

Derek is a former senior public servant, with policy interests including public financial management and public administration.

His recent research has focused on the Social Investment Approach, regulatory management and international regulatory cooperation, public management, and organisational performance measurement and management.

Background

Derek has worked at the Ministry of Social Development, the State Services Commission and the Treasury. He has also been seconded to the OECD to work on public governance issues, and earlier in his career worked in the New Zealand Embassy in Washington.

His career has seen him investigate a wide range of public management and public policy issues, all of which have informed his teaching, research and publishing at both the Institute for Governance and Policy Studies and the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research.
