Alison Dewes
Alison Dewes is passionate about achieving environmental outcomes from farming that are consistent with eco-system health.
Alison is an experienced veterinarian (BVSc, Massey, 1987) with a Masters in Biological Science (Ecology), (Waikato 2015). She is the Owner/Director of the Sustainable Agriculture Consultancy (www.tipuwhenua.com) specialising in on-farm strategic advice inside limits.

She is qualified in Advanced Nutrient Management for Agriculture, Adult Education, Farm Effluent System design, dairy nutrition, financial lending fundamentals and dairy leadership (Melb Aus).
Alison has 30 years’ farming experience herself in New Zealand and Australia, including Agribusiness roles with the Commonwealth Bank & Nestle in milk supply management & quality, and Raukawa Charitable Trust as Sustainable Land Use advisor.
She is presently a NEXT Foundation Freshwater Fellow (2020) – working with Bay of Plenty Regional Council on “One Health Catchment Projects”. She was awarded the NZ River Voice Award 2019. Advisory panels she has served on include the Freshwater Leaders Group, RMA tech support, NZ Health Research Council, and the Molesworth Steering Committee.
For the past 5 years, she has been working with Landcorp, including a role as Head of Environment from 2017 - 2020. She was Agricultural Expert Witness for six New Zealand regional plans & for the Havelock North water contamination inquiry.
She has also held a 3 year term on NZ Veterinary Association as Sustainability Spokesperson (2015-2018) and was Finalist for NZ sustainability champion (2015).
