PhD research

Research undertaken by PhD students investigating aspects related to health services, policy and practice, and planning.

How do passengers use and value their public transport travel time and what is its value for health?

This is Marie Russell's PhD research at the Department of Public Health, University of Otago, Wellington. Marie is using mixed methods to conduct research with bus and train passengers in Auckland and Wellington, looking at the social and personal experiences and meanings of travel time. Much of the fieldwork for the project was completed in 2009 and Marie will collect additional data during 2010 and write up her findings during 2010 and 2011.
