Support services

The University provides research services and support, as well as other support services for all students.

Your workspace

The University is committed to providing a range of resources to research students under the Minimum Resources Agreement (MRA). Resources include office or laboratory space, furniture, a computer and access to all relevant University systems.

Orientation workshops

The Wellington Faculty of Graduate Research runs orientation workshops for new doctoral candidates.

In addition, Student Learning has a range of programmes for new students. There may also be discipline-specific courses or workshops conducted in your school.

Postgraduate Students’ Association (PGSA)

PhD students are represented by the Postgraduate Students’ Association. Membership is optional. If you wish to join, you will be required to pay a subscription fee upon enrolment as a doctoral candidate.

Wellington University International

Wellington University International provides a range of services for international students, including a meeting service when you arrive, help with accommodation, and advice on visa requirements and paying your fees.

Accommodation and childcare

The University has childcare facilities based at Kelburn campus.

Victoria University of Wellington has a number of Halls of Residence, and the University’s Accommodation service can assist you in finding other accommodation.
