Study

The Wellington Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation offers programmes in the built environment, design, and architecture history, theory and practice.

We have many study options to choose from, whether you are looking for an introduction to architecture or design, a refresher course as professional development, or a full research qualification.

You can study towards a Bachelor’s degree in any of the subjects we offer. Certificate and graduate diploma programmes are offered in Designed Environments and Design Innovation. These are suitable for students with substantial work experience or related qualifications. Master’s degrees, postgraduate diplomas, and PhDs have a significant research component and suit those wanting professional qualifications in the field.

The Faculty’s professional degrees have been restructured to align with national and international standards. We offer a three-year undergraduate Bachelors’ degree followed by a two-year Master’s degree. The completion of both qualifications is now standard for professional registration and recognition in both architecture and design related fields.

As a result of the specialised education provided through our programmes, graduates will be ready to take their place as leaders of local, regional, and international practices. Victoria University of Wellington is uniquely positioned in Wellington, the cultural and creative Capital, to educate future design professionals from the centre of New Zealand’s tertiary education sector.
