Computer Graphics and Games at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington is the only programme in Australia and New Zealand that offers a qualification in games and graphics at undergraduate level. This programme gives you a head start in this growing industry.
The programme has been developed with input from major industry players, including Wētā FX, PikPok, and Square Enix (who produce Final Fantasy). You’ll get the benefit of these ongoing connections, with guest lectures and mentorships on group projects.
You can study Computer Graphics and Games as your major subject for the three-year Bachelor of Science (BSc). You’ll learn about the key concepts and tools used in the creation of games and visual experiences. You’ll gain the programming and engineering skills to push the frontier of visual effects, game interactions, and design.

The computer graphics and games industries are growing. Our graduates create the algorithms that make computer graphics and games better to view and interact with. They work at companies like Wētā FX, PikPok, and Fingertapps.
By studying Computer Graphics and Games, you’ll open the door to a wide range of career options. You could become a software developer, software engineer, UI (user interaction) designer, or game designer.

You may be able to get a scholarship to help fund your studies at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
We have first year and school leaver scholarships available, as well as specialised scholarships for different groups and subject areas.
You can apply to tutor undergraduate courses in the School of Engineering and Computer Science. To become a tutor, you need to be in your second year or above and have good results in your courses.
If you choose to continue to postgraduate study with us after finishing your degree, you’ll join a talented team of internationally recognised researchers doing innovative work.
If you get good results in your BSc in Computer Graphics and Games, you could go on to do a Bachelor of Science with Honours—followed by a Master’s or PhD, if you want to do independent research.
