Description

Sustainable Development Goals include 13 targets and 26 indicators. However, none of these targets or indicators includes a mention of subjective wellbeing (SWB)—i.e. one's own assessment of wellbeing. In contrast, the wellbeing literature in psychology, economics and sociology places great store on: (i) which personal and societal factors contribute to SWB, and (ii) how SWB affects other outcomes for an individual and for society. Professor Arthur Grimes outlines key insights from the wellbeing literature and discusses how new insights are being derived from recent studies.
