Dr Melanie Gibson-Helm (BCA, BSc(Hons), MRepSci, PhD, is a women’s public health researcher at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, a Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington graduate, and the author of over 60 publications. Dr Gibson's research program aims to improve the provision of comprehensive, woman-centred healthcare to women who experience significant barriers to attaining their full health potential.

Between 2016 and 2018, Dr Gibson was a member of the international group who developed the first internationally endorsed evidence-based guideline for polycystic ovary syndrome (67 systematic or narrative reviews and an extensive translation and dissemination strategy). She was the lead for recommendations about mental health screening, and education for women and healthcare providers.In this presentation, Dr Gibson will discuss the origins of the guideline, how her research contributed to it, how it was developed, the outputs and what is coming next.

This presentation will appeal to a multidisciplinary audience as the guideline was developed by a range of medical, allied health and research professions, and affected women.
