Description

The issues under consideration include the liability of online platforms, the need for need for enhanced measures to address piracy and the proper role of exceptions to copyright protection. Jo will give a practical perspective on these issues and why they matter to the New Zealanders who create and invest in music, and all those who enjoy it.


Speaker Bios

Jo Oliver is General Counsel and Govt Affairs for Recorded Music New Zealand, the organisation that represents record companies and recording artists. Prior to joining Recorded Music she spent 12 years as General Counsel at global music organisation the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) in London. Jo studied Law at Victoria University of Wellington, and before joining the music industry she worked in law firms in New Zealand, the UK, and Australia, and studied in the US.
