Donate to the Helen Tippett Award

Support women who intend to work in the construction industry or a related field to study architecture, building science, or business.

Professor Helen Tippett OBE was the first woman professor of architecture in Australasia and Dean of Victoria University of Wellington’s School of Architecture from 1980-1983. A hard worker with a ‘no nonsense’ approach, Helen made a lasting contribution to architecture in Aotearoa through her expertise in project management and building controls. She was the first woman president of the New Zealand Institute of Architects and the founding president of the New Zealand Institute of Building.

An advocate for diversity and inclusion, Helen supported setting up the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC)—a non-profit association that encourages women to establish and sustain successful careers in the construction industry through networking and education.
