Dr Ro Parsons
Dr Ro Parsons is the Deputy Chief Executive: Methodology and Professional Practice in the Education Review Office (ERO).
Ro has had a wide-ranging career in education working in a range of roles: teacher in secondary schooling, early childhood education and parent education settings; secondary school principal; and in-service teacher educator. As a reviewer in ERO she evaluated primary and secondary schools and early childhood education centres.
Ro’s key areas of expertise include: school and system improvement; educational leadership and management; policy development, implementation and evaluation; professional learning and development; and evaluation.
Ro has academic expertise in the field of evaluation and has designed courses and taught evaluation at post-graduate level. In a previous role as Chief Education Advisor: Schooling Policy in the Ministry of Education, Ro managed the Organisation for Economic Development (OECD) Review of Evaluation and Assessment in New Zealand.
Ro has published in areas related to mathematics education, teacher professional learning and development, and policy implementation and evaluation.
Ro’s qualifications include: Doctor of Education, Master of Educational Administration (First Class Hons) and a post-graduate Diploma in Education.
