Since 2012 Rob has worked as an education consultant, undertaking policy and review projects both within New Zealand and internationally. In addition to his consultancy work, he was the Acting Chief Executive of the Education Review Office (2013/14) and the Acting Director of the New Zealand Teachers Council (2014/15).

From 1996 to 2012, Rob was part of the leadership team in the Ministry of Education. Over that time he had a range of responsibilities including for the development of education system strategy, the Ministry’s research and data analysis functions, the leadership of policy advice across a range of schooling and tertiary education issues and international education.

Prior to working in the education sector, Rob was an analyst and manager in the Treasury.

Rob holds an MA (1st class hons) from the University of Canterbury and an MSc (with distinction) from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
