Profile

Zuhdi is the Head of Quality Assurance Institute of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. He started his teaching career as a lecturer assistant at the Faculty of Tarbiyah (Education) IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in 1997. When taking his doctoral degree at McGill University, he also served as a teaching assistant in two subjects: Philosophy of Education and Issues in Educational Studies. After finishing his PhD in 2006, he continued his teaching career as a lecturer and senior lecturer at the Faculty of Educational Sciences and the Graduate School of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. In the period of 2006 to 2012, he was also serving as the Director of Education and Research of Jalan Sesama (Sesame Street Indonesia). He received an honorary Australian Alumni Awards for Excellence in Education from the Australian Embassy in Jakarta in 2011. In the period of 2015 to 2020, he was appointed as the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Educational Sciences of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.  His research ranges from Curriculum Development, Islamic Education, and Teaching and Learning.

Zuhdi is a cofounder of “Centre of Excellence – Educating for the Future” (a partnership between Victoria University of Wellington, University of South Australia, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, and Universitas Negeri Jakarta).

Supervision and research

Zuhdi’s research area covers themes on Religious Education, Curriculum Development, and Teaching and Learning. He has done a number of studies on curriculum in Islamic schools, religious education and teacher education.

He is currently serving as a supervisor for a number of theses and dissertations, both in UIN Syarif Hidayatullah and other institutions, mostly related to Islamic Education and Curriculum Development.
