Graham Stoop

In recent times, Dr Stoop has held leadership positions in three public agencies. He has been the Chief Executive of the Education Review Office and Chief Executive of the Education Council, and a Deputy Secretary at Ministry of Education. Earlier, he was Pro Vice Chancellor at the University of Canterbury and Chief Executive of the Christchurch College of Education. He began his career as a secondary school teacher with principalships in two secondary schools.

Dr Stoop has an MA degree with first class honours in history and a PhD from the University of Canterbury. He has a MEdAdmin degree from Deakin University. He studied at the University of Oxford for his Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Leadership where he was the top scholar.

Dr Stoop has an interest in the intersection of policy and practice, and the role institutional leaders play in education reform processes.
