Statement of supervisory Interest

Areas of interest: Design, art and culture. Audio-visual design, (interactive) installation, physical computing, wearable technology, costume design. Cross-disciplinary creative practice. The convergence of art and science, design and technology.


Anne Niemetz studied Media Arts at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe (HfG), Germany, with a focus in digital media and interactive sound installation, and in 2002 received her Media Arts degree. She continued her studies at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and graduated in 2004 with a Master of Fine Art granted by the Design|Media Art department. In 2007 Anne moved to New Zealand to take up the role of Senior Lecturer in the Media programme at VUW.

Anne’s interests and work span a variety of digital and analog media, including video, audio, installation, physical computing and wearable technology. She is particular fascinated by the areas of convergence of art and science, design and technology, and she pursues collaborative and cross-disciplinary projects.
