The festival will kick off on 28 May with the Doc Edge Forum, and Minimum Mass Directors Raqi Syed and Areito Echevarria will participate in the roundtable discussion, Beyond Reality: XR. They will discuss the growth, applications, and boundaries being broken in the places beyond 2D. You can buy a Forum pass here.

Starting on 3 June, physical installations of Minimum Mass are open to the public in Auckland and Wellington. Please see the XR Exhibition programme for the latest details on location and registration.

Minimum Mass, a VR film from Raqi Syed and Areito Echevarria (respectively programme director and senior lecturer for the Master of Design Technology), is the story of a couple who experience a series of miscarriages and come to believe their children are being born in another dimension. Set in contemporary Rotorua, New Zealand, and the speculative world of black holes, it is a 20-minute interactive narrative virtual reality.
