Our Confucius Institute visited the Wellington and Rotorua branches of the New Zealand China Friendship Society in September to enjoy Confucius Institute Day with them. The Society has a long history dating back to the last century when Rewi Alley’s pioneering work in China fostered friendly relations between New Zealand and China. Members of the two branches were briefed on the Confucius Institute’s work on language teaching with schools and communities and the cultural activities carried out alongside language teaching. They met our staff and Mandarin Language Assistants who spoke about their unique experiences engaging with Kiwis from all walks of life and their growing appreciation of life in New Zealand.

九月，惠灵顿维多利亚大学孔子学院走进新西兰-中国友好协会惠灵顿分会、罗托鲁瓦分会，与那里的热爱中国的朋友们共庆孔子学院日。

新中友协悠久的历史还要追溯到上个世纪，路易.艾黎在促进新中友好关系上所做的开拓性工作。在交流中，两分会的成员了解到了维大孔院在中小学汉语和社区汉语教学上取得的成绩，还透过图片看到了遍及北岛南部丰富多样的文化推广活动。孔院院长、老师、汉语助教还讲述了在新西兰期间融入不同行业、不同背景的人群中的故事，也分享了自己眼中日渐熟悉的新西兰生活。
