11 New Mandarin Language Assistants

CI at VUW welcomes 11 new Mandarin Language Assistants to NZ

11 Mandarin Language Assistants hosted by the CI at VUWThis year, the Confucius Institute at VUW has sent 11 Mandarin Language Assistants to work in primary, intermediate and secondary schools in Wellington, Rotorua, Wanganui, Opotiki, Whakatane and Tauranga. In early March, the MLAs took part in a one week orientation programme that included an introduction to the NZ education system, a guided tour at Te Papa, presentations by Chinese teachers in NZ, school visits and a closing ceremony hosted by the Mayor of Rotorua. The 11 MLAs will assist with the Chinese teaching programmes at their host schools until December 2013. The Confucius Institute at VUW will monitor their progress and provide them with on-going support throughout the year.
