Profile

Apurba is a PhD student in Economics at the Wellington School of Business and Government. His current research focuses on the economics of extreme weather events. He graduated from Khulna University, Bangladesh with a Bachelor and Master's (Thesis) Degree with distinction majoring in Economics. He was awarded a Chancellor Gold Medal and a Prime Minister Gold Medal Award for his excellent academic achievements.

Before joining the PhD programme at Victoria University of Wellington, Apurba was working as an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Barishal, Bangladesh. He has also served as the Director of Research at the Bangladesh Relief Initiative for Communities in Khulna (BRICK), Virginia, USA.

Apurba is a recipient of a scholarship from the Chair in the Economics of Disasters and Climate Change.
