Access services and resources for students who identify with diverse sexual orientations, and sex and gender identities.

At Victoria University of Wellington, our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, agender (LGBTQIA+), and takatāpui communities are known as the Rainbow community.

Rainbow and Inclusion Adviser

The Rainbow and Inclusion Adviser connects students with appropriate services, working to make sure that the University is a safe and inclusive environment for students of all sexualities, genders, and sex characteristics.

Gender diverse bathrooms in Rutherford House

There are gender diverse bathrooms located at all our campuses. At Rutherford House, you can find them at:

  • Room G051, ground floor—accessible toilet and shower facilities
  • Room 151, Level 1
  • Room 152, PhD office, Level 1
  • Room MZ56, Mezzanine floor—accessible

UniQ is a student association that provides safe spaces, support, and social events for queer and questioning students of all gender and sexual identities. They’re an inclusive and welcoming group and offer:

  • queer mentoring
  • information and resources
  • peer support
  • discussion space
  • movie nights
  • PRIDE week events
  • queer advocacy.
