Mothers’ perceptions of a home-based support programme

This study looked at parents’ perceptions of a 12 week ESDM parent training programme.

After the training programme was complete, five mothers of young autistic children completed a questionnaire and answered a series of interview questions about their experience.

Main findings

  • All five mothers found the intervention to be acceptable.
  • Each of the parents also identified strengths and challenges related to:
    • outcomes for their child
    • the model of intervention
    • the parent-training procedures
