Low-intensity therapy in a preschool

This study looked at the impact of ESDM therapy when delivered in a child’s regular inclusive preschool setting.

Three times a week over 8–10 weeks, an ESDM therapist delivered one-hour therapy sessions to the study participants. The participants were three four-year-old autistic children.

Main findings

  • All three children showed improvements in active participation.
  • All three children showed some improvement in imitation or communication.
